G. – newborn child

G. was born in Romania in 2007 with several malformations, worsened by a severe infection. After a tough delivery, after 20 hours of life, he weighed only 1200 grams and was transferred in helicopter to the Capital to undergo urgent surgery.
He underwent a long surgery overnight and it saved his life. Four months later he arrived to the Burlo Garofolo hospital with his parents and his long, difficult hospitalization lasted two months.
The surgical team faced two of George’s three problems: they made a complete esophagus (it will allow him to eat by himself in the future) and solved the problem of anorectal malformation, allowing him to do without a “bag” for excrements.
G. will be back in Trieste in two months to undergo one last operation to his urethra.
