Through our support for the purchase of the necessary surgical equipment, our collaboration with the Surgical Ward of the children\u2019s hospital in Novisad led to surgery on two Serbian boys, aged 13 and 14, suffering from \u201cpectus excavatum\u201d, operated using the Nuss procedure (application of a metal bar under the chest via thoratoscopy). It is a less-invasive procedure, therefore it is much more tolerated by the body and more effective than those used in the past.
\nOn the occasion, Doctor Jurgen Schleef \u2013 member of the Scientific Committee of our Association \u2013 held a theoretical and practical lesson to local surgeons and paramedic staff on mini-invasive procedures to correct the \u201cpectus excavatum\u201d.
